Do WC toads need to hibernate?

cee4 Sep 03, 2005 02:00 PM

I caught a toad last summer and kept it for the summer months and let it go in plenty of time to hibernate outside..But this year the toads are everywhere because weve had so much rain and well I keep finding them in the yard decapitated by the mower..So I decided to keep the two others I rescued till next year anyway...I have two in a 20L with potting soil, plants and hides. One is about 3inches and the other about 2inches, is it okay to keep them together? They are eating great, anything I put in the tank they eat.Grubs, worms, crickets etc..Ive started another mealworm colony for this winter and it should be going good by that time.

You can keep them active all year. If you were attempting to breed them, you would have to manipulate things a bit. What kind of toads are they anyways? Thanx, Leo

And I dont really want to breed them just keep them for a bit and probably let them go next spring.
