22 leos,1.1 redtail boas,1.1 rainbow boas,1.1 cornsnakes, 1.0 tokay gecko,1.0 veiled cham, 5 dogs and a cat. Oh, can't forget Tater my parolet.
That's great to hear he is doing good. However, please refrain from holding the leo alot. Leos AREN'T like dogs, cats, or birds that love and crave social interaction, leos just tolerate it well. Even though we may wish it with all our hearts, I highly doubt our reptiles see us as "my loving master, how I love my master" as a dog will. At best they probably think "yay! there's that creature that brings food with it!". A good way to think of a reptilian pet is a "look no touch" animal. They are fun to watch as they roam around their tank, but try to enjoy them that way. Leos would much prefer to be left alone in their tank, minding their own business. I know he LOOKS fine, but when reptiles stress out, you can't see any physical signs of it. He is still a new leo, and a juvie (which are more skittish than adults) so please don't hold him unless you have to. When I got my first leo, Beanie, I wanted to hold her every waking moment...but it's bad for them. Even now, with my 2 leos having lived over a year in my house, I still pick them up as little as I can. Normally, they need to be picked up if: I see something wrong with them and need to check them over, I need to clean their cages, I need to weigh them, and occasionally, just to take a pic or two. He needs time to settle in...we want the best for you and the leo. Enjoy watching him through the glass and maybe interact with him by hand feeding him mealies from your fingers.
That said and done, have you taken him to the vet yet??? When you do, be certain to get a fecal exam done as well as a physical exam by a certified reptilian/exotics veterinarian. I won't even both you on that whole "nature bark" issue....
Sorry for the long post, but I wasn't able to access the forum when all this was said earlier this week and just wanted to voice my opinion. Good luck with the lil guy!!!
