On Wednesday I rented a room at the Indian Lodge in the Davis Mtn State Park. The room was 82.00 a night and was well worth it. One of the nicest places I have stayed in Texas. You have to go there. The rooms are incredible and large, and a nice swimming pool. I hunted the the cuts just outside the Park for about an hour. I missed an alterna on top of a tall cut just North of the Park entrance. Bummed a bit but excited to see one. I headed up to the observatory cuts and sometime between 12:00 AM and 1:00 AM on Thursday I found a dark lep going up a cut. Too high up to mess with or get a picture of. The temperature was about 74 degrees and a slight breeze. It was warmer and better conditions up here then down near the park. I went about 200' from where I saw the lep, and crawling vertically, head pointing down, about 4 feet up the cut was the pictured alterna. The cut was at least 60 feet tall so I was not even spotting the higher area. I checked the sex immediately and found it was also a female. It is about the same size and age as the xmas alterna. I also found on this trip a piebald River Road Suboc and was given a nice adult female celaenops, that was just caught in the grass flatlnds, on the farmroad heading south out of Marfa. It looks like a River Rd snake. A great trip and lots of great herpers. I did not want to come home quite yet, but I have to make money to do it all over someday. Enjoy...Ric Blair
