Little Update (and a picture test)

PAsnake Sep 04, 2005 09:44 AM

I don't post nearly as much as i used to, but i do lurk 5-6 days a week. I took some pictures of Kula and my new snake Smeagol. Everyone here said it was only a matter of time before i got another one though i didn't get a corn snake. I fell for a 05 Captive Bred Normal Ball Python Hatchling when i went for a new water bowel for Kula at the local reptile shop.

Kula is 39 inches now, he put on 15 inches in the 14 months i've had him and he is only approx 2 years old.

The new guy, Smeagol is only 19-20 inches, approx 4-5 months old.

Also of note i caught my first "wild snake" if you consider a snake living in a decent sized town wild. I got a call from my mom that there was a snake sunning itself on the retaining wall along the walkway leaving my grandmother's house she wanted removed. I went down and found a tiny Eastern Hognose about as long as a #2 pencil, barely thicker than one as well.

Quite a bit of flattening and hissing but no strikes or bites as i gently caught him and put it in a deli cup. I later released

it near my dad's cabin next to a nice lake

with lots of frogs to eat when it grows up.

this is also a test to see if i figured out how to put pictures within the post not just at the end.

I guess I did good with my snake! I got him at 15 inches long and about 4 months old at the beginning of December 2004. He is a little over 13 months old and 35 inches long. He put on 20 inches since December (more than doubled his size). I have kinda wondered if he is big for his age or not. I guess he is a little bigger than average maybe. Does anyone think he will get to 5 feet or more?
