Need more Heat..

bnreptiles Sep 04, 2005 11:53 AM

Hi there i just hooked up my new rack system and I'm not getting enough heat. Its a 10 rubbermaid style like ballpython.ca and i have used 11" heat tape along the back and i have it hooked up to a Herpstat thermostat. I'm getting from 89.1-91.4 degrees on my hot side. I want a little more. How can i acheive this?? Any comments appreciated. Thanks Brad

Try putting some rigid insulation on the back. This should prevent heat loss out the back and raise your temps. You can get this at Lowes, Home Depot, etc. It's usually available in 24" by 48 " sheets or full 4' by 8' sheets in thicknesses from 1/2" to a couple inches. I've used this before with my previous rack systems and it can really make a difference.
