terra cottaa hides/?!- help

im tryin to make a terra cotta (clay pot) hide...how do you all do that? how do the leos get in if the hole is on the top, and how do they get out> im all confused here!!! so i take a pot, use the hole in the top, place it on tile, use bed a beast and moss in there, and mist. is that all/ HELP

When I used them at one time I would cut a entry hole in the side with a dremel then set it upside down in a terra cotta tray like goes under the pot. I eventually broke a couple and found that dispossible glad wear or old butter bowls work just as good.
