baby corn feeding questions

classdwhite Sep 04, 2005 06:01 PM

woohoo 1st post!!! anyway, today i just kinda had a baby corn snake dropped in my lap by sum1 that decided they didnt want it anymore. ive read a bunch of caresheets and see most say feed it 2 pinkies 4-5 days. does that mean feed the snake 2 pinkies at once or wait a day then feed the other? sorry if it sounds like a stupid question but im new to this and want to give this snake the best life possible. p.s. ive owned snakes before but never this young, the snake is probably 6-8 inches long, looks like RIGHT out of the egg. anyway, thanks for any help. -Dave

i would start with just one small pinkie if its that young and small. then no handling for at least 48 hours. i fed my baby corns every 5 days or so till they got a little bit bigger.
once he's taking a pinkie a few times then i would give it 2. how are you housing it? they don't need anything big. in fact smaller is better for babies. i started mine out in a 5 gallon tank.
everyone is helpful here. this is just my experience.

when it does get bigger to take 2 pinkies let him eat one then the other right after.

cool thanks for the info. i have him currently housed in a 10 gal tank, 2 hide boxes ( 1 cool, one warmer ). so far i think he enjoys his new home.
