I've had SD's for over 2 years. My experience with them is that they are not often prone to biting. But can be very flighty. Once you take them out, they are not much for handling. They tend to want to get away or take off. I've had a few that would strike a bit but not much. Mainly they are just high strung.

I've got two pair of SD retics. One pair were WC and purchased from Bob Clark, and the other pair were CB by Dan Uremovic and received this year. My wild pair don't bite very often, but they are rather high strung. Usually there is a period of about a minute after removing them from their cages where they are cool to be handled, but after that they want to get away and will thrash and whip around if restrained. And they are very fast. I wouldn't recommend WC if you want a tame pet. The CB pair, on the other hand, are probably the coolest snakes I own (besides my indigos). They are calm, inquisitive, and fearless, but they can move pretty quick too. If you can find CB babies, that is definitely the way to go. I think they'll be really popular once more people are breeding them. Hope it helps.

They are just like other retics. WC are a little flighty and captive bred are fairly laid back, and curious.
