abstraKt Sep 04, 2005 06:25 PM

I dont know wich chameleon I would like to get more. They all look great to me but I dont know which one to pick. Hopefully you guys could help me out. Out of the three: Which ones friendlier, which ones easy to take care of, which one could be handled more, which one is better for a first chameleon(this is not my first reptile, ive cared for many different species)

thanks for the help everyone!

A Nosey Be IS a Panther Chameleon. Just one of the many locals of them. So you are actually asking whether a veiled or a panther is best.

Veilds are very cheap to buy and easy to find. Panthers, almost no matter what local/colour you choose, you will have to dig deep into your pockets to buy one, let alone try to decide which of the many variations to have.

Many Veilds eat plants and veggies happily where as Panthers have less appetite for them, usually. May not seem important, but when you have a stubborn eater, a veild may be more receptive to the things you offer.

From speaking with Veild owners, I have found that they can have radically different personalities that are determined at a young age. Some are anxious, and will wait for you near the door of the enclosure when they see you enter the room. Some are grumpy and hiss quite a bit. As for Panthers, I see countless and countless photos of them out of their cages sitting on owners hands. That is not to say veilds won't do the same.

All this being said, I will let someone else share their opinions as I suggest that you should pick what makes you happiest and do your best to care for it. If you want the easiest to care for because you don't want too much responsibilities, I don't recomend a chameleon at all. If that is not the case, then look at some photos and see what you like best.

Hi Jordisan,

As the previous message before me reccomended, panthers can be quite expensive, but absolutly gorgeous, as can veileds! Personally, I have a panther chameleon, and Im very satsisfied with him. He's friendly, but like ALL chameleons, he can be nippy IF he chooses. Its not really what "species" of chameleon that determines how your chameleons personality is going to come out. Im in the process of purchasing a baby male veiled at the moment. I love veileds just as I do panthers, but the upside of veilds is the offspring dont cost around $300.oo LOL, But thats just my opinion, Thanks...and good luck!

You will be happy with a Veild. Besides, you can always get more later on.

Do you know if Glorfindel is a retired breeder? Thanks so much!
