Senticolis t. mutabilis

Ophidiophile Sep 04, 2005 06:32 PM

Feels like a loooong time since I've been around the forum - been traveling like mad.
Anyway, I got around to shooting some photos of my mutabilis today and thought I'd post one. This is an approx. 18 month old cb Costa Rican male. I've had an adult female for quite a while (about 3 years) but now I've finally got males that are just barely up to breeding size - so I'm hoping this is the year for these guys.

That's the best pic I've seen of them, yet. I love the light browns. Hope you're successful with them next year

Mark, you asked for some info about the ssp...

They are the subspecies of Senticolis from Central America - occur in Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica. I have animals from Honduras and Costa Rica. They go through an incredible ontogenetic change and as adults can be yellow-brown, orange-brown or red-brown. I have found them to be undemanding captives - I keep them in a rack system on aspen in the low 80s. I do keep them more humid than 'intermedia.'

Here's a hatchling male:
