Question on my 1 year Redfoot

Linda G Jul 18, 2003 11:19 AM

I currently feed Peabody everyday. He is a little eating
machine as he eats everything I give him plus he has plants
that I have to keep rotating because he eats them so
quickly.

He is 170 grams and I am noticing that his shell looks
a little bumpy. I do not want him to pyramid so I am
wondering if I should start feeding every other day?
Also, during growth do the scutes do this somewhat?
Does this weight seem OK or too much for his age?

Thanks in advance

He sure is ready to only eat every second day. The breeder I got my hatchlings from is even feeding his hatchlings only every two days.
I have continued his practice and my hatchlings grow nicely and smoothly.
An adequte formula to calculate the approriate weight for a specific SCL is:
straight carapace lenth in cm to the third (cubic, sorry, don't know how to say that properly in English) times 0.191 equals the ideal weight in grams.
Hope that helps!

realize there was a formula for it. Peabody will not
be happy when he is waiting each morning and I don't give
him anything. Oh well, it will probably hurt me more
than him
