What's the difference?

Hi,
I had heard about a month ago that the yellowheads had been changed to C. c. collaris. Is there another name after the secound collaris or were they proven to be the same lizard?

I just went to Will's site for the secound time, the first time I THOUGHT that he only had one page on each speices, BUT was glad to see many pages of each when I found out that the next button took you to more pages of the same speices. I didn't realize that there was so many varieations of each lizard!

i think the yellowheads were C.c. auriceps or something like that, however, i am cynical about some taxonomy. like the C. collaris, C. bicinctores and C.vestigium, i can understand those, but when it comes to a sub specie of a specie (does that even make sense) it just seems like they change them up every few years in order to say they have something new to publish. i am not saying it should or should not be C.c.(whatever), i am just saying they like to drive people crazy by changing it and not just with collareds, but with many things out there. i am sure others disagree with me.
here is a nice article by will wells http://www.reptileallsorts.com/colliz-cs.htm

I think it is more understandable to go by a locale than subspecies. Locales don't change
