This was part of an earlier post, but figured I"d re-ask it since it's now my main question.
I have basically a large melamine box measuring 48" wide by 24" deep by 18" high, with no top that used to house a couple uromastyx. Obviously, uromastyx aren't exactly the most agile of lizards, and I left the top completely open, simply because it was easier and this was the only real way to view them anyway.
Could I do the same for a dwarf tegu, or should I go ahead and make a screened top for the enclosure? I'm sure they're agile lizards, but they stay relatively small, so what I'm asking is are they going to be the type that are able to run and jump high enough to escape a cage with 18" walls?
Thanks for any opinions!
