Coastal/Jungle hybrids? Anyone seen one?

AshleyM Jul 18, 2003 11:27 AM

I was recently offered a beautiful snake for sale by a friend who is no longer able to keep it. He told me that it was a Coastal Carpet, and from the pictures he showed me I believed this to be true - had the classic Coastal pattern, Coastal head, Coastal size (currently about 9 feet and as big around as my arm). But after seeing the snake in person, I'm a little confused - instead of the brown and cream colored pattern I have seen on Coastals before, this snake has a very dark brown and gold pattern, with yellow ventral and labial scales. It (to me) looks like a Coastal pattern with JCP colors. I was wondering if this could be the result of hybridization with a JCP? Does anyone have pics of such a snake? I will try to get accurate pics and post them if this doesn't help anyone...I'm just very curious, and am considering buying this animal!

This link should answer your questions(or create new ones, as is usually the case the more you learn about Carpets...) about Coastal Crosses, or any crosses for that matter.

Hope this helps,
