Recieving shipped fruit flies

bsank Jul 18, 2003 11:30 AM

I just recieved two cultures of melanogaster fruit flies in the mail today and well over half of them are dead (stuck to the sides or stuck in the medium), about 2/3's. These are starting cultures for frogs I will be getting at a later date. Is this normal and if not, what is the reason for this. Also, I have read that flies become sterile after being exposed to temps over 80F. Is this the case? Did I drop $30 for nothing? Thanks for any responses.

Sorry about that. Thanks for notifying me about that last post. I searched the old archives, should have checked the new ones too I guess.
