Off Topic, not an indigo, but a huge nigrita

Steve_Craig Sep 05, 2005 10:42 AM

Hey all. I read this forum from time to time, and love to see pics and read about the indigos that everyone has. Though I don't own an indigo, I do keep various common kings, and one in particular I have is a huge Mexican Black King. This male is over five feet, and is a pretty impressive animal. In no way is this trying to compare him with an indigo, because you can't. This is more of him being an impressive Mexican Black. He is in the middle of shed. Thanks for looking.

Thanks for sharing your black king; that is one HUGE kingsnake! Even though its not an indigo, I think most people here will still find this to be a very beautiful, black colored snake....WOW!

Thanks Rob. I don't usually like to post off topic on other forums, but I figured some posters might find this very large nigrita interesting. As a matter of fact, one of the guys on the kingsnake forum does own an indigo, and said my mexican black at first glance reminded him of his, except I belive the nigrita has a smaller head. The bloodline my Mexican Black came from (Lemke line) produces very large nigrita, averaging over five feet plus, so that's pretty stout for nigrita, but for Eastern indigos, I guess five feet is just getting started, LOL

Now thats a respectable sized Mex Black King.
Nothing to be ashamed about there, sure its no Couperi, but when the last time you saw a kingsnake that big?

Reminds me of black milksnakes.

Thanks for sharing,

sincerely,

PS
If and when you bred that beast did the offspring come out larger than normal? Interesting...Big-Un genes...

I've always thought Mexican Black Kings to be outstanding snakes to work with, and this big male is no exception. I didn't breed or produce this animal. He came from John Cherry/Cherryville Farms. He is a typical sized nigrita for this particular bloodline. (Lemke Line) I would imagine they produce some jumbo sized hatchlings. Thanks for the nice comments.
