Looks like a Yuma King (the old Yumensis). SW Arizona or SE CA.

My Guess, Greg

I would have to take a WAG at it and say SW Arizona.......
Nice looking one too....I see there are no light colored spots on its head....Kinda a sockhead....Maybe a slight (and I do mean slight) Splendida influence....So my guess would be in Arizona closer to pure Calkings like in the South west.

Just a guess though....

This is a really poor guess, but your question is superb. Its not the popular types that many would know.

Ok, OK, northern baja, to western ariz(yuma) all the way on the southern border area, then north to Three points(where I will be going in a few minutes, with luck, I may be able to post a pic) has that pattern type of king.

Why I say my answer is poor is, while they do occur where I said, kingsnakes have a habit of be sneaky and having odd populations in all sort of odd places. Such odd places as between Mammoth and Winkleman, have narrow banded brownish kings.

Thanks for the nice pick and great question. FR

It was found in Coastal Los Angeles County, between the hills in Westchester and Culver City CA. This one was seen about 30 yards from the first pic. By the way, not my gloves.

I am going to say Los Angeles county partly because I think that's were you live but also because I know there are melanistic bandeds in that area.
It also looks alot like one somebody recently posted on another forum from eastern San Diego county. I think you could also find them like that throughout the San Joaquine Valley and Sacramento area.
Very nice pics of a neat Cal King variation.
