I finaly got back to work with my rack and my dad stained it yesterday with some cherry stain. What would be a good recommended time before I put it to use with my snakes? I did not plan for it to be stained but it was when I got home and what's done is done. It will keep it from bowing and stuff so that is good. However, he did not stain the undersides of each level, so the snakes canot come direct contact with the stained wood. The next sunny day we have and I have help, I will set it out in the sun and let it air out better. I will get pics up soon. Thanks for any and all replies.

Until you can't smell it any longer.

I don't believe stain will keep it from bowing.

I would seal the undersides of each shelf. Use oil or water based polyurethane, contact paper, paint, vinyl film, or something.
