A destructive monitors claws.
I like FRP, (fiber reinforced plastic)they cannot damage it with their claws and its waterproof, in fact when attached properly its darn near indestructible. Then seal all corners with GE silicone 2. Ive heard of people wanting to try vinyl sheets, and other stuff but Id rather know that its done right the first time. The stuff is a bit expensive but then again monitors are expensive to care for properly.
I used 3/4" then painted it with Marine Paint...seal the seams first the calking won't stick to marine paint..

My Site
I have used 1/2 and 3/4 inch plywood for cages. I coat mine with many coats of polyurethane. If I had it to do over again, I would have put FRP on the wood as well.
