What do I do?

DeanBright Sep 06, 2005 08:33 AM

Hi I just started feeding crickets because my collany is FINELY ready. When I put the crickets in the aqurium they run and hide, and because the lizards are use to the slow old grasshoppers they have trouble catching them. Every morning I have to rescue crickets out of the wdater dish. There is a space behind a rock that I need to fill up because the crickets hide behind it. They crickets look A LOT more nutricious because the grasshoppers are on this dried up pasture and are thin and hard. And the crickets are big, fat, and VERY soft bodied. What do I do?

Thanks,
Morgan

can climb back out. You really have no choice on the crickts hiding, but here is a tip that can help.

Put the crickets in a decent size slick ceramic contaier...shake them with a small amount of vit/mineral powder first. They get so jacked up on the powder, they don't jump too well, and the slick sides of the ceramic keeps them inside.

The other option is to pull the legs of the crickets off...I always specify "the legs of the crickets" because the last time I offered this suggestion people were pulling their lizards legs off instead :O)

they'll usually eat something juicy like that iceberg lettuce since you are concerned they are dry.

I haven't done this, but maybe if you put the crickets you are going to feed the lizard in the fridge for a few minutes they'll calm down from the cold. Don't let them get loose
