What is she talking about?

JEP Sep 06, 2005 09:33 AM

Hi Everybody...

Yesterday a friend of one of my students said she's seen
information about a venomous snake called the green tree snake.
She claims that if bitten, the victim immediately begins to
dissolve ("melt". I told her that many venoms start breaking down tissue which aids the digestion process and that's what I
thought she learned. She stuck to her guns saying she's seen
this info from two different sources.

So anyone have any idea of what animal she's referring to?

Thanks

She is most likely referring to an episode of Jeff Corwin. I remember him saying this while talking about a boomslang he just caught.

I agree...

Boomslang causes a "Cytological & Hematological meltdown" but the patient does not fall to pieces externally, just internally more or less.

You can take the snake out of the jungle but you can't take the jungle out of the snake.

At least she learned something from watching TV. It is a rare case with some of these programs on lately. Just have her pay attention to what the snake is next time : )
