help feeding

Carpet Sep 06, 2005 02:55 PM

So i posted a couple days ago about my leo having parasites and being on meds.

i took him to the vet sept. 1st and since then he has ate three crickets, but the problems is everytime he eats them an hour or so later they are in his poop corner not completely digested.
i have been soaking him every night like the vet said. i was wondering though if there is anything else i could feed him to help him add on some weight and get his appetite going again?

ive heard about like chicken dinner and egg whites. Is the chicken dinner like baby food or something else?

any help would be appreciated.

Is your leo on a probiotic as well as the dwormer? If not then the dewormer may have striped his system of its beneficial bacteria, which may be making it so he isnt digesting properly. Ask your vet what he recomends as a probiotic. I have heard acidophilaz(sp?) works good, but im not sure how you break it down by weight

She put my leo on Metronidazole and Pancur(sp?). Not sure which is for what. Plus she gave me AcidophilLiz Digestive Tract Condintioner to put the good bacteria back in his digestive tract.

Metronidazole is an antibiotic, most commonly used for G.I upset. What were your geckos symptoms before you took her to the vet? The panacur is a dewormer for the parasites.

I would call you vet and let them know what is going on with your leo, it may be a normal thing because of all the meds in his tummy, or it could be abnormal. Im afraid i have very little experience with metro used i leos. Most vets are very willing to answer questions if you call, although it may take them a while to call you back

Some of his symptoms were lack of appetite and weight loss. Well, i should say no appetite, because he refused to eat anything.

but yeah im going to give the vet a call.

Good luck! Keep us posted, i would like to hear what the vet has to say about it
