leopard tortoise

jblais Sep 06, 2005 04:00 PM

Couple of questions. I rescued a small leopard tortoise and I have read up on it's diet. It appears to have never been introduced to hay or orchard grass. Does anyone have a good methods on how to get the tortoise to eat it? Also, it is small enough to be in a large tank, but besides it's life support system, is there anything I can decorate the cage with that they are particularly fond of?

I think a lot of people mix the hay/grasses in with chopped greens to get them used to it. My leopard grazes outside most of the year and gets mixed grocery store greens and cactus during winter. As far as cage decorations, they do like to hide next to just about anything. They will go in a box, or you can get something more decorative. I got some of the plastic, fake rock sculptures from Petsmart. They look nice and are easy to clean.
