Can u help me, problem

LeoGeck Sep 06, 2005 10:11 PM

I recently noticed my gecko bein a little sluggish. Also there seemed to be like a little blister behind his front right leg. I dont know if this is related or if the blister is cause hes shedding or what. I have been feeding him crickets and grasshoppers from my yard, but i live in a very rural area, far away from any pestisides. So im not sure if thatd do it, if u can help me thatd be great.

Is it possible your leo got burned on something? Or perhaps one of the insects bit your leo. How large is your gecko and how big are the prey you are feeding?

stop feeding the leo insects from outside! Those insects carry many parasites which could cause problems for your leo. You should take your leo to the vet and get checked out & a fecal. Also, the "blister" could be a fatty deposit, sometimes heavy leos store fat behind their front limbs, if you could post a picture we may be able to help you with that one.

Outdoor bugs are never safe, no matter where you live. Even if your area does not spray pesticides, run off from other areas can affect water sources. Gasoline from cars is a pollutant as well. Plus, these bugs carry all sorts of nasty things inside them! If you dont live near enough to a petstore, just order some crickets, or even better silkworms, from offline and keep them at home

What does the blister look like? Is it just a pocket of air under the skin right by the "armpit"? Look at the other side, is there one there too? If the blister is not red, pussy or open then its probably just a fat pouch, which is another way leos store extra fat...kind of like they do in their tails

As far as being sluggish...check all your temps and run a fecal. If everything is ok and he is still actuing strange or isnt eating much then i would take him to the vet
