Still shy...

urbanjungles Sep 06, 2005 11:04 PM

But I'm taking full advantage of my camera's nitetime picture taking capabilities to snap pics of my Ambilobe while he snoozes away.

I'm amazed at how much color he's showing at less than 4 mos old. He's still a bit shy and freaks out if I look him in the eyes.

But every now and then I catch a glimpse amongst the pothos and philidendron.

Yes, it was taken at night while he sleeps. My camera is a Sony Cybershot f828 8 megapixel camera...it has astounding nite time picture taking capabilities which is the reason I purchased this particular camera being that like to do alot of field herping. In complete darkness you can switch to a night frame mode that gives you an infrared view of your picture subject. After making the necessary adjustments, you depress the button and a holgraphic grid blankets the subject momentarily which adjust the focus and flash accordingly.

The cham never even woke up. The flash is very quick and I rarely take more than 2 pictures in a setting in order not to push waking him up.

Must be like sleeping through a lighting storm...

He's my first priority so I wouldn't take the pic if I thought it would disturb him in any way. Nocturnal snakes definitely do not appreciate the flash, they tend to strike at it.

Thanks for the compliments.
