a scut looking for love in all the wrong places

Wow! That's a crazy photo Joe. Definitely not the brightest animals in the world... or maybe they're just into that kind of stuff 
here's a newborn scut that was lying in the road just outside of Ft. Davis.
Thanks Rich... I've been home for two days and I want to pack up and go right back out. Don't know if I can wait 12 more years to move out there.

here's a nice one found along the NM/AZ border a few weeks back... 
THere is a lot of interesting variation in the individual scutes and atrox in that area. You never know what you are gonna find.

Crotalus viridis (not viridus) is the Prairie or Western rattlesnake.
the other day I wrote "exceptable" when I meant to write "acceptable". WTF was I thinking??? I know, I wasn't....
