Julian Garcia Sep 07, 2005 11:31 AM

hey julian, who owns that snake?brandon still has it or you now?really amazing and thats a great example of how some high yellows with a little bit of green or blue or black(to add contrast)can blow away any canary in a beauty contest.

you seem to know quite a bit about the really special designers out there.im curious about the yearling holdbacks that greg maxwell has for sale,im not sure but i think he only has like 2 or 3 left, you know the clutch im talking about?it was a calico project and its the clutch that produced ,umm diablo something, you know, the like 80 percent black with blue snake,it has red eyes,a one of a kind snake, you couldnt have missed it(oh by the way, anyone else reading this, julian, brandon whoever may have a good idea, please feel free to answer)anyway,im interested in that pairing and it seems to me that the entire clutch seem to look like amazing high black snakes, much higher black than either of the parents.is this almost 90 percent black on some, typical of calicos and they usually lose most of it? i just got my finantial aid check from rutgers(ha ha ha )and it is a pretty heavy check, lol.im thinking about buying one of these holdbacks, and im wonering what you guys think, they will look like based on their yearling colors.im not familar with calicos but i have seen, over the years,a few of these black yearlings but never have a seen an adult hold those amazing colors.was say, calico jr,that black as a yearling or do these guys colors, suggest that they will be the most amazing chondros ever seen.i have to say i have not seen many other yearlings look this contrasty and the entire clutch is like that!! now i did say i got a nice check but i still maynot be able to afford one of these(i have about 41/2 grand)is anyone else breeding high blacks or calicos besides greg? high blacks are a dream chondro for me,and the nicest chondro i have ever seen even tops that diablo snake greg has,it was a guy,i dont know his name, but he lives or lived in alaska 2 years ago and used to post a lot on the forums.he posted a picture of his snake ,that he bought from someone other than greg i believe, but i cant be sure(maybe someone remembers the guy from alaska or the snake, cant imagine too many people owning amazing chondros in alaska.,it was amazing,it was about 50 percent black and 50 percent of the bluest blue i have ever seen on a chondro.i think he paid about 1200 for it but then again,he bought it as a neonate and if this snake had been a yearling and for sale,i think it could have easily gone for nearly 10 grand.anyway, that was my dream snake and ever since seeing that i proomised myself that if i ever got a spare couple thousand,id try and buy a high black like it.besides all that,i already own a high blue and if i ever got a black female, the possibility or crossing the 2 and getting blue and black offspring would be really cool and give me something to look foward to.thanks again and someone please help me find my dream snake!!

i think the calicos will keep the look they have right now for the most part...
however i dont think he is selling and of the holdbacks... their were also 2 nice yellow critters that he produced in the clutch, so not all are black or dark...
the guy in Alaska that you were refering to is probably Rich Culver... i dont know what he has for sale right now...

and as far as other black chondos out their...... umm check out this link... i dont know what the future holds for these guys, but they are sure HOT... his name and email is in the link...

There have been no Calico x Calico breedings done yet. Later this year there might be some, from greg and other people doign joint projects.

As far black chondros. It's one of the newest projects out there. "The Super Mites" as i like to call them. You might want to ask around for Chris Haight. I was just at his place he has a 90% black female that should be ready to breed next year. I think right now he has his finger closest to producing some black chondros.

Rich Culver is who you want to talk to he has a high blue / black chondro from a Tim Morris Blue Line pairing called "Mitey Blue". I think Mitey should be ready to breed shortly.

As for the link Shilo sent, thats from Jack's Golden Sky pairing. We will be pairing the female from that pairing with a powder blue male in my collection. You can read about it on jacks page www.chondroweb.com/onalimb

As for getting one of Greg's hold back calicos or Ella Diablo siblings or calico animals, I would be supirised if he let any go for under 6k.

Here is a shot of my calico animal from that pairing.
