is my corn sick?

goregrind Sep 07, 2005 04:24 PM

i think my corns urinating/deficateing is too frequent.
sometimes she goes two days after she eats, two days later, a week after eating then a week later. (she went a few weeks without eating because of a vet appointment and shedding)

she drinks very frequently (a few times a week)

sometimes she goes when being handled and it has a lot of liquid.

the vet did a test on the urine and feces because she did it on the vets table. the test showed negative for parasytes so im getting blood work done soon.

i dont know if it means anything but sometimes when im putting her back in the cage i hold her near the head and near the tail to set her down flat and she quivers as im putting her down.

could it be a disease? and if it is can it be spread to my ball pytons?

i just got her recently from a person who could not care for her and im thinking this is the reason she was given to me for free. it was the owners only snake and he was giving it to me because his wife hated it, but he gave her to me with nothing but a cardboard box, so im thinking he was just replacing her because of this.

She sounds fine to me. That's about when I'd expect her to defecate. As far as quivering goes, I'd just hold her in one hand and put that hand into her tank so that she can crawl off of you herself. She probably just doesn't like/isn't used to the way you're putting her down.

goregrind, I agree that your snake is probably okay. The blood work is still not a bad idea for several reasons.
1)It will take it off your shoulders that something might be going wrong.
2)It will be benificial if your snake gets sick in the future.
3)It will hint at other problems that may be going on. Can snakes be diabetic? I've never seen one, but other problems may see excessive urinarition/drinking, like kidney disease. All of this will reflect in the blood results and your DVM will inform you if there is a problem.
