Problem with temps and thermostat!

gone_balls_crazy Sep 07, 2005 05:22 PM

I decided to check my temps with a digital and a infrared thermometer today and the hot spot was at 86.5 and the cold end was 77 and has been that temp for a few months now. I had my Ranco set to 90 and still the highest temp I was getting was the 86.5. My question is what do you think my chances are of still being able to breed this year? Have my temps been to low over the past months? I have adjusted the Ranco so that my temps are now 90 hot end. Do you think I caught it to late? Thanks for your help!

have they been eating well at these temps??

I have a few snakes that prefer cooler temps, and eat better at around those temps, and will still breed fine when the time comes.

That being said, in my experience my females tend to go off feed more often when I start introductions, and some at the start of cooling.

I think males benefit more from the cooler temps as a cue to get ready.

If your males have been eating well I think your fine.

This is just my opinion, based on my experiences.
