In loving memory of irwin

krn Sep 07, 2005 08:45 PM

I got irwin at the end of seventh grade. I got her at a local pet store when she was just 5 inches. the first night i was scared that she wouldnt make it because she was soo small. I checked numerous times throughout the night to make shour she was ok. Me and irwin grew on each other. i enjoyed taking her out and holding her. as she got older she became more loyal and loving. we spent hours lying on a lazy day watching tv or me rubbing her. She loved to eat anything but her favorite where crickets. Many people enjoyed her company. I cant say enough about her. Sadly one week after she stopped eating she became very ill. I layed with her and rubbed her when i stopped she would open her eyes and i could tells she was saying com on keep rubbing. That night sadly she was put to sleep. I will never forget this friend she will be in my heart until the day i die. And then we can hopefully meet in heaven. I love you Irwin, you were the best pal anyone could ever ask for. Rest in Peace.
Irwin Nadeau April 2002 to September 6, 2005. I love you soo much.

That is so sad, I send my deepest regards form poor Irwin. Aleast you got to spent 3 Wonderful Years with such a nice Beardie, and luckily she was blessed with a owner like you.=)

That was so sad it almost made me cry! Its amazing the bonds we form with your lizards. Huh, and people try to tell us they are "just lizards"!! I recently went through a health scare with my three yr old beardie and i was so scared i would lose her i was ill. After a long string of treatments she made it out ok, but i will never forget how terrified i was at the thought of losing her. Love for an animal is as strong as love for a best friend or family member. Irwin was a much loved dragon, and she knew it! Im glad she got to spend three great years with you! She was lucky.

Out of curiosity, did you and your vet manage to figure out what was wrong with poor irwin?

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. She was a beautiful dragon, and obviously well loved. Why did the vet decide she needed to be put to sleep? It must have been something pretty serious.

I'm so sorry. She was happy and loved during her stay in this world. I am also curious if your vet found what was wrong with her.

What a wonderful compassionate group of people! People think I'm nuts when I talk about loving my reptiles. My tortoises and my beardie have very distinct personalities. My beardie is the most affectionate. he too loves just to "hang around" me.

Irwin was absolutely GORGEOUS! It's hard to put an animal down, but we also can't stand to think of them suffering. You will make other pet friends, but Irwin will always stand out in your mind...

So sorry this happened to you. Irwin looked so beautiful. My bearded dragon looks fat like Irwin appeared to be. I know what people here mean when they say that people are shocked how much we can love our reptiles and amphibians. My pan frog kermit died today, from what I think is old age. He was 5 and healthy up til his death. All we can do is love them and let them know how much we care for them. I never see my dragon or other pets as their species. Really, they are just themselves, and never are two exactly the same in personality.

It brought tears to my eyes reading about your loss,it reminded me of how sad I was to have to put down my dog after thirteen years. She will always be in your heart and you will be able to love her forever. I afraid my son's lizard has something wrong with it, it's back legs don't look like they're moving. It's at his mom's house and today was the he's had it for about six monthes and today was the first real day I ever got a chance to bond withit. He's such a cute little guy I'm so scared he's going to have to be put down. I haven't told my son yet. He lves with ma and doesn't know anyhing is wrong. We took him out of his tank for the first tim in awhile today because he didn't like to be picked up, my son's mom was petting him and he seemed to be enjoying it. Then she set him on the carpet to let him run around and it looked like he had a seizure and then his back legs didn't move. I'm shaking as I write this I'm so scared of what might happen.

I'm sorry for all the spelling problems. I meant to say my son lives with me and doesn't know there is anything wrong with his lizard. He only gets to see it on the weekends.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss of Irwin. It's amazing how much pets become an important part of our lives. They love you for just being you and stay with you in both good and bad times. Pets are always there to talk to, shed a few tears with and a happy laugh. The memories of the good times together help to get us through their passing. I think they would want to be remembered that way.

Eddie I am so sorry to hear your son's pet is ill. How old is your son? I hope his lizard's health improves. Maybe if you take it to the vet for some advice. I know you are probably fearful of what the vet would say. Best of luck to you.

My son wil be eight on thursday. His beardie (spike) died in the middle of the night, the next day we put him in a box and buried him in the front yard. My son was a little upset but he helped me dig the hole and bury him. I still don't have any idea of what caused his problems but I feeling better now at least he got to get out of his tank and be held one last time. I'm not sure if we are going to get another beardie.
