I was curious about a couple things. I recently bought a snow corn and it ate last thursday and I put a pinky in on tuesday but it didnt eat it, so I figure it wasnt hungry cause its still so small. everytime I put it back in the cage it either hides under the bedding or hides in the side of a box.It only comes out and wanders around at night and I havent seen it drink anything yet. I was curious if this is normal behavior or not. Im sure all snakes act differently but some of this might be regular snake behavior. Thanks for any feedback or helpful tips.

Thanks in advance,
Don

Well, First of all you are wrong.... Your snake would be HUNGRIER since it is small. Since they do most of their growing in the first 2 years of their life and this takes vast amounts of energy. It's hard to overfeed a baby snake Secondly there could be several reasons why she did not eat. stress, heat, nervous. Check your temps and let her be for a few days. It could mean she is sick but chances are overwelmingly that it is just "new snake syndrome" let it settle in.

Thanks again. I bout it new last tuesday and by thursday it was eating. I think it could be very well stressed out since I take it out to play with it everyday hoping to make it less nippy. If I put the pinky in a leave it the snake seems to find it by next morn. So if I put the pinky in would the snake associate this as feeding when it heard the cage open?

Well first of all you need to feed it out of the cage in a deli cup or anything else that works so it doesn't ingest any substrate...Secondly, You don't have to worry about that since it will hopefully be eating out of the cage I think the only way it would associate hand in cage as food would be if you NEVER hold it and just come into contact with it on feeding days

let ur snake settle in for a bit. I found it easier for my snakes to eat at night when they're active. Actually as im typing this right now i just fed my two snakes they ate right infront of me and are very healthy. Also try feeding it in another container so it doesn't think that everytime u open the cage it means feeding time. This will save u lots of stress in preventing a snippy snake when it gets older.

well if you handle the baby to much it will get stressed and not eat. its recommended to let a new comer, no matter what age, to settle in for a few days before any contact.
i would feed my baby corns in a sep container at first but not anymore. with my bigger corns they know when i reach in to get them or when food is coming in.
yours will get used to things. just take it slow. most babies hide all the time. it's a big world to them. just my thoughts

Yes, this is normal behavior, at least for all the ones ive ever had. Dont worry and only try and feed once weekly for a while until it gets going then you can feed more frequently.
