breeding question

I have a black mexican kingsnake that is not adult size yet. I want to start breeding snakes. I can make my own cages, so that isn't a problem. I know a guy at a local pet store who has 50 snakes at his house. I think he breeds them too. I haven't had a chance to talk to him yet, so I was going to see if anyone here could help me. I have a decent size apartment, with a porch. The porch is full already, with 3 rabbit cages and a snake cage. There is room inside my apartment for about 10 decent size cages. Are there any good books I can get or any website you guys know of?

I breed rabbits and rats, so feeding shouldn't be a problem for me.

Your best bet would be to build a rack system, the kind where sweaterboxes slide into melamine shelving. There are no books on this, but you can visit websites that sell these units and get a pretty good idea of how they're built.

I don't know what kind of books you are looking for, but there are many books on kingsnakes that have sections on breeding... a quick seach on amazon or somthing will turn up many books. This website is a great source of information too. If you search google for 'breeding kingsnakes' you will find everything you need to know to get started.

Both newborn rats and newborn rabbits will be too big for baby kings.

If after reading up on breeding, you still have questions, feel free to ask.

Good luck,
Tom
