very odd Okeetee Reduced black/ red overcoat

h_ricker May 17, 2003 10:35 PM

2001 Male that is said to be f1 out of Okeetees caught in Jasper Co. S.C. Black is reduced greatly on front 1/3 of snake and has a redish cast mainly on last 1/2 of the snake.

The snake appears Hypo. in front and has an orange glaze over back 1/2.

Any Ideals as to what is causing this color or lack of color.

This picture shows the lack of black on front and redish orange glaze over last 1/2.

That is one awesome snake. I bet there is some kind of Hypo gene floating in that snake. I would expect the belly to be less black chekered. He has great colors.

Very ineresting snake. I wouldn't know what to call it.
It seems, to me, that if it was hypo the belly checks wouldn't be such a dark black. This is as much a question as anything.
I'm not sure just kinda' thinking out loud.
