How hot is too hot in your opinions

For ambient air temps, I keep mine at 84-86, yet about 15 different breeders/hobbysts claim they keep them from 79 all the way up to 89-91. These people have all successfully bred balls, and other reptiles. I believe that at 89-91 would cook your snake, but these people have been doing this for quite a few years. Opinions

Hello,

In the summer my room temps are around 90 and the snakes seem to do fine with it. I don't think 90 would cook your snakes - as that is the temp at which eggs are incubated so it does not make sense to me that adults would be in peril at 90.

I do have to watch my incubator temps when the ambient temp in the room gets too high though, or my incubator temp will creep up. When this starts to happen, I open the doors to my snake room to let some heat escape.

actually, as soon as my snake room hits 85F or more, the snakes appear to be baking.. they will wrap their water bowls, or try to get into their water bowls, they will all be on the cool end and eat very poorly.. I'm by no means an expert, but in my limited experience, I have found my snakes do much better when the ambient air temperatures don't get warmer than 83F...

I'd love to hear more on this topic...

Bristen.

I maintain an ambient temp of 80-82F with a hot spot of 90-92F.
