Red Bulb Question

elgrano Sep 08, 2005 11:05 AM

Hi guys...just a quick question...
Is it ok to leave a RED BULB light ON all night? or is just use to view the snake at night for a little while? does it get strees with it?

Thanks for your help!

i assume youre talking about the red infrared bulbs. im not real sure about the harmfulness of constant infrared rays on a snake. i use one of the bulbs with my carpet python throughout the day and then it switches over to a blacklight at night. the red bulb gives off good heat during the day and the blacklight gives off a cooler temp at night (12/12 timer cycle). i would guess that it would really just depend on how much heat the bulb in question is giving off.

Bulbs dry the air out alot. I wouldnt use them with bloods even during the day. You'd be much better with some under cage heat tape.
