elgrano Sep 08, 2005 11:21 AM

Hi guys...just a quick question...
Is it ok to leave a RED BULB light ON all night? or is just use to view the snake at night for a little while? does it get strees with it?

Thanks for your help!

From what I've read, snakes can't see the red color. It's out of their range. Same with lizards... I keep a red light on my BD at night and he sleeps through it.

I use them on some of my boas with no problems, just make sure the enclosure does not get too hot.

I only use bulbs to heat the bigger cages-clear during the day and purple/black at night and haven't had any problems, just watch for dehydration.

I use the red bulbs for heat and day bulbs to create a day night cycle. They work great IMO. The day bulb is on one side of the tank and create heat spot during the day 87-92 Deg. F, while at night the red bulbs keep the whole tank a nice 77-82 deg. F which helps simulate the night temp drop. I like them. Always use a thermostat of sorts however. I use this set up for all my animals!
