So cute! I just love them when they are little. I have an aegyptius juvie (just turned 1) and they are so wonderful to watch grow up!

Congratulations, and welcome Frodo!

wow, yours is beautiful!!!

I am SO excited for him to get here, I have been messing with temperatures all day, trying to get things just right for him! What size enclosure do you reccomend for him at 7-8" I thought I'd ask as I have several housing options.

Thanks in advance...

I had mosca in a 40 gallon breeder tank until very recently. He is now 9-10 inches (I am estimating), and I just moved him into a 2ft x 4ft cage, which he does not get lost in at all. I DID find that having him in the smaller tank made him much easier to catch though, since he is still a little skittish about being handled, so I think I would recommend something like a 40 gallon breeder at least to start. After that, you know the motto - bigger is better!

ps - thank you for the compliment on Mosca.

Thanks, I appreciate the caging help!! Frodo is 7" total length and I thought a 40 would be best, nice to have that confirmed!!

Are uros typically skittish when young?? From what I have read, they tend to be one of the more docile lizards? How is yours now at a year old as far as handling etc??

Thanks again..

Mosca is actually a little more skittish now that he was when he was VERY little. Or probably more accurately, he is much more adept at SHOWING his skittishness. I think that this is largely my fault though. Up until last month I had an adult mali that I had had for a very long time that had been very ill for most of the last year, and he had been getting the majority of the attention. I have been told that they often get a lot more laid back as they age. Also, what I call "skittish" is probably what people working with other lizards call laid back, lol. Mosca will occasionally run into a hide when I go to pick him up, or half heartedly whip his tail around once I have him. Nothing mean though.
