I have been interested in the Tegus for a couple years now. My male 6ft iguana recently passed away and now I'm ready for a tegu. But before I get one I want to get your opinion on the personality. As most of us know, iguanas could be very unpredictable as with my male once he reached mature status he was very unpredictable. Snappy, moody, and sometimes just mean. If I get a tegu once they reach maturity do thier personalities become like that of an iguana. If so then maybe I should be looking into another snake or something. Also for safety reasons I have 2 boys 6 and 11 I never let them around my iguana once his mood changed. Oviously I won't let them aroung the tegu without my supervision , but will I need to be just as cautious with the tegu. I not too worried while the tegu is still small but when he gets close to full grown or reaches sexual maturity are they gonna snap. And final I torn between the Argentine or the Blue. Which one seems to more of the docile throughout its life. Thank you.

go with the agrentine black and white, they're the best!! of course i might be a little partial because i have one! in my opinion and experience the argentine b&w are awesomw and like puppy dogs if you get them young and handle them every day. they don't go through mood swings and they tend to stay very tame through out their entire life. their personalities are great and mine actually seems to enjoy being out of the cage with me on the couch. he actually forces his head under my hand until i start petting him, i've never had a lizard that did that. anyway, good luck and no matter which one you get, they're all awesome!
