Besides chondros being better?? J/K, lol!! Seriously though, boas give live birth, and pythons lay eggs. In all, I would say that is the biggest difference. I also think that generally speaking chondros are smaller as adults. Emaralds are a New World species, and Tree Pythons are Old World.

If you look at enough pictures there is a big difference in the looks. Chondros have smaller heads and snouts with heat pits located within the scales. Emeralds have heat pits located between the labial scales. From what I have heard Emeralds are much less comfortable on the ground, where as it is not that abnormal for a chondro to utilize floor space in it's cage from time to time.

I believe baby color phases are different for each as well. I've never seen a yellow baby Emerald.

Just my .02 from what I know

You pretty well covered it Kevin.

Emeralds are bigger and stockier than Chondros especially Basins which can get to over twice the weight of the average chondro. With a bigger head and longer teeth emeralds also can do more damage when they bite.

I keep a number of both and would say that Emeralds are a bit more touchy when it comes to husbandry especially WC.

I've never heard of a yellow baby emerald either though some emeralds are born green and I've never heard of a hatch ling chondro that was green. You get more color variation in chondros as well, blues, high yellows ETC ETC.

You can find rather tame Chondros and Emeralds but you can also find a number of demon's lol. I like them both and am glad I don't have to choose one or the other. Randy
