How big was your rhino from bob ehrig when it was two years old? I was just curious to see how it compared to my two year old I got from him?
Mine is Spike/Jane
Thanks, Charlie

This is a quote from a post that I made in early December, 2003.
"My Rhino,Loofah, who turned 2 years old on November 5th, is already over 34 inches STL and 14 inches SVL. I believe he's going to be a monster. Bubbles, my 5 year old female, is 44 inches STL and 18 inches SVL."
Loofah is from a Stefanie/Jomo breeding, hatched November 5th, 2001. He grew in leaps and bounds his first 2.5 years and I thought he was going to be a real monster, but growth has slowed considerably since. He's now 40 inches in total length and approximately 16 inches SVL. He's also a calm, attention seeking animal, often climbing up onto my lap or onto my shoulder from his basking spot. He's a wonderful lizard.
I also have a 2 year old male, from the same clutch as the one Carole just posted about (Diego), and he's not near as large as hers. I think the difference is because mine was not housed alone for the last year but had another Rhino cagemate of the same age. Unfortunately both turned out to be males and one is now living with friends in St. Petersburg, FL. Now maybe the remaining one will take off and have a growth spurt. Eventually he will have to find a new home also. Three adult male Rhinos is enough for me!!
Here is a photo of Loofah at 2 years of age.
Hi Jane, I had wondered what happened to your 2 year old -- now I know, too bad it did not work out. He was actually a Conan/Spica bloodline while Carole's Diego was Conan/Shera. I don't think that had anything to do with the growth rate as Spica was a fast growing monster when smaller. My experience concurs that solo iguanas grow faster than when in groups. - provided they get lots of attention. Spica who was raised solitarily + was 36" in Nov. of her 2nd year, She continued to reach 41-1/2" by the next July, and then stopped growing for about 2 years. At 9yrs (last fall) She was 44"/20"SVL and about 15lbs.

John, thanks for the reply. I was so hoping that the 2 year old was going to be a female and am quite disappointed that he's not. I'm so boy heavy with Scrub, Loofah, the 2 year old, and the 2 boys from LIRM here. Bubs is my only girl!! I think the 2 year old may be going to Don and Dawn T. in Wyoming. They kept Conan and one of the females (I think Shera) for a couple of years when they belonged to Bo and were broken-hearted when Bo finally came to collect them. They would love to have a related offspring. He will have a great home with them. Meanwhile, I'm still searching for the right girl. *sigh*
Hello I just wanted to let you know that the animals that Don kept for me was Herc and Becky when I needed to have someone to take care of them when it was needed. But yes you are right Don will take good care of him if you decide to part with your 2 year old. I hope you don't recieve this message wrong I just wanted say it wasn't Conan & Shera.
Thanks
Bo
Bo, thanks for clearing that up. We've never met but Don speaks highly of you. I finally got the chance to meet him and Dawn in Daytona last month, and yes, I'm sure the Rhino would have a great home with them. They adopted a Red Tegu from me a couple of years ago and will be adopting a few more critters for their museum.
I have a couple of questions for you myself. I'll get in touch with you off forum, if that's OK.
I would be happy to answer any questions that you might have. Instead of posting my phone number I know that you talk with John and he has my numbers if you want to get them from him. Look forward to talking to you.
Bo
