Has anyone ever made these?

skyslinger Sep 08, 2005 08:51 PM

I was just wondering if anyone has ever bred arabesque to arabesque and proven/disproven if there is a super form? Also has anyone ever bred a motley to an arabesque to see what they would make in the 25% that got both genes? Also I wonder why we haven't seen any super motleys since the purple one Jeremy made. I was just pondering all of my pairings for the season and wondered these thingts. I thought it might make for a good discussion!

I believe Steve H., the originator of the arabesque had bred them together and produced poss. supers or supers, but as I remember they just looked like really nice arabesques. As far as Super Motleys, the C.A. line produced supers AGAIN this year for Alex B. of Boa Republic. His site is boarepublic.com if you want to check those out. Don't know of any arab.x motley litters yet. Take care

I'm sure the arabesque to arabesque has been done, I would atleast expect Steve Hammond to have done so.
I know he has the sunburst line, but I think that is just a lighter, cleaner, pinker line.. haven't heard anything for the supers.

I have also pondered the arab X motley, and others such as Leopard X motley, jungle X leopard, and so much more...

Many may think there is no sense mixing pattern with pattern, becuase then you really don't know what you got... in this case, since you know what each produces individually, it probably wouldn't be as crazy or random as one may think.

Look at how many ball pythons have been crossed to produce new things... again, animals that were well known for a certain pattern, and most wouldn't bother breeding them with another pattern morph, but you do, and you get black balls, white balls, OUTRGEOUS balls..... etc.

I think these odd breedings we are talking about is what is going to take the boa morph market to the next level, somewhat similar to that of the ball pythons.

Another thing is using wild blood of seemingly common imported colombians to breed with your morphs and more...
This is another way new morphs popped up in the ball commuity.

Here are some others I thought about:
Harlequin X Jungle
Leopard X Motely
Harlequin X Leopard
Arabesque X Motley
Anerythristic X T Albino
Jungle X Leopard
Arabesque X Squaretail
Patternless X Leopard
and so much more!

Anyone knowing of these breedings, please comment and/or post pics!

Thanks, Joe

Yeah, for sure the arabesquexarabesque has been done. Some of them were close to patternless. He posted some pics of the nicest ones on KS and they were killer, but I'm a HUGE arabesque fan. Theoretically, if it IS a super and you breed it to a normal, all the babies should be regular arabesques. I think all of those ideas are great and would be totally interested in seeing an arabesquexmotley.

I have a buddy that is trying to make a trade for an 04 male motley het albino at Anehiem this weekend to breed with my albino female. If it works out I might also put it with my arab het albino and see what happens. What do you think? I was planning on putting it with my dh sunglow.

With a Sunglow Pos. Het Stripe male and an Arabesque Het Albino / Het Stripe female. I wonder what that will yeild?

It is defenitely going to be interesting to see what all these different combinations make. There should be some really fun stuff happening in the upcoming seasons.

You will have the first combination of Four mutations, an Arabesque Striped Sunglow would be double homozygous for two recessive genes, express a dominant mutaion, and a co-dominant mutation. GOOD LUCK!
