leaving for the weekend... need some advice

tristan Sep 09, 2005 02:27 AM

hi everyone,

i'm gonna be going to Las Vegas for my best friend's bachelor party (i'm the best man) in a couple of weeks. i will be leaving friday afternoon and coming back sunday afternoon/evening, so i'll be gone for about 2 days.

what should i do for my tegu? should i keep the same cycle with lighting/heating? or should i leave the lights off? should i leave anything in his cage for him to eat that won't rot?

has anyone else gone away for two days? if so, could you let me know what you did for your tegu(s)?

any advice would be appreciated,
tristan

you worry too much..... you can go it will be fine the main thing is the heat. You want to make sure it has sufficient heating source. When I left and I didnt have the proper timer one that makes day and night cycles with 2 bulbs( a newtek) I would just leave the night light on all day till I got back. You dont have to feed your tegu everyday I dont every 2-3 would be fine just feed it the day before you leave. ALso make sure the water bowl is fresh and full. They do have a tendency to kick their bark into the bowl but it could go a couple days im sure without water. Argentine black and whites can tolerate the cold etc, they arent like other tegus if you were to just leave no light or heat lamps on for a couple days it would be fine.
