That email has been going around same wording, different addresses and different names to go with them.

bcijoe Sep 09, 2005 09:17 AM

people come here and post as if it just started...

i've always received one here and there, but yesterday I received one each for 6 different ads posted... lol

I figure if we don't even open the email, we won't show up as those who do, which makes them continue to send more from different addresses and contacts..
That's how they get you with Junk mail.. if you open it, they continue to send cause they know you will read it..
If you select it as junk, they continue to send because they know yu are checking them..

The only thing i've found to not be regressive, is just putting them in the trash bucket..
Not opening and deleting, just select from the menu and put in trash.

Well, anything to help...

Joe

someone posted the email they recieved. They were able to trace the IP address (I have no idea how to) back to Africa. Well a couple of days later I got the email on one of my ads, the name was different and so was the email address, but the content was identical.
I posted the email and others replied that they two recieved it, Celia was one of them, I believe she had a different name in hers also.

I have begun to wonder. Maybe someone is selling a program to other people saying use this, set up a hotmail or yahoo email and email these people in the U.S. Telling the customer, you will get money from the dumb americans. This is a logical assumption, one person is scamming many into doing it, or the person behind the scam is a moron and think by changeing the email address and his name that people won't catch on. The emails have been the same, with (item} always empty, makeing me think this.

Craigslist had a warning on these as well a few weeks ago.

My first thoughts when I get one of these and corresponded a few
times was maybe they are muslim extremists.

I know it sounds paranoid, but the guy wrote something about
god giving me the strength to go through with the transaction,
which I thought was rather peculiar...

It was exactly the same letter shell posted above...

It's not just on kingsnake but numerous sites where classifieds are posted. Ignoring these emails is not going to accomplish anything. Everytime I have received this type of email I have responded letting them know that I am aware that it's a scam and that I would forward their emails to the authorities. If you ignore their emails then they will just email someone else, however if they start seeing that we are on to their scams then they will take their scams elsewhere.

I get those email replies all the time. They are oour worthless friends from Nigeria who scam Americans for millions and millions a year.

I have notified Kingsnake and this is what they suggest "I believe that you need to fill out this section http://www.pethobbyist.com/abuse/index.php and send it in. He said to use the abuse address."

Once you fill out the abuse form ...this is what you get. "Dear Sir,

This is a common scam and there isn't much we can do. The FBI can't
even go
after them as they are from out of the country.

You can keep from receiving any more of these by setting your account
to
receive emails from only registered users. To do this follow these
instructions:

Go to "My Ads": http://market.kingsnake.com/login.php

Click where it says "Click Here" in this line: Any user can contact
you.
Click Here to allow only Registered Pethobbyist.com users to contact
you. "

Just "block sender" and read the next email. That's all you can do. Although they should trace back the ip address to the exact computer and catch the dirtballs.

Take care!

Go to this website to trace it: http://www.ip-to-location.com/free.asp

By the way ....after you find out where they are from, click on "MAP IT" and it will show you exactly where they are located on a map (where the red lines intersect). Pretty cool huh....now you know where to plan you next vacation.

I concede that this must be a scam. Could someone explain to me how this thing works?
