For an 7 month old bearded dragon what is the proper dusting of supplements?? I use repti-vite every other day on half of the crickets I feed. This is just how I have always done it, but I don't think it is proper, I need some help??

For me it is simple, I use T-rex ICB on every meal of bugs and VGF or VMF for every salad. That's it

with other suppliments I used to use calcium for one bug feeding a day and vitimans once a week. After a year old when they no longer get bugs every day I would put calcium on salad a couple times a week.

ok, so one bug feeding everyday I should use a calcium supplement, and once a week at one bug feeding I could use repti-vite, which is a vitimin, mineral, amino acid supplement?

Vitimans can go on salad or bugs

My dragon barely touches his veggies, so I dust crix once a day every day with about equal proportion of calcium and vitamins. I mix it in the container and I want to know if that's OK or there is some disadvantage of doing so that I'm not aware of. He's 6 1/2 month old.

Hi,

You'll want to watch how much of the multivitamin you give him. Dusting once a day with the calcium is fine, but too much of a vitamin supplement can be toxic to them. You'll be fine with giving him a multivitamin once a week.

HUH, but is my dusting pattern ok, one bug feeding everyday dust with calcium, and one bug feeding once a week dust with repti-vite??? "for a 7 month old beardie"

Also what is the dusting pattern for an adult???

Hey,

You are fine. Do one feeding a day with a calcium supplement (like rep-cal). Just put a pinch over the insects you are feeding and "shake and bake". Dust once a week with a mulit-vitamin. I use herptivite.
You CAN put it on top of his salad, I just find that when they're younger, it's easier to dust the bugs.
Once he is a bit older (over a year), you can cut the calcium down to 3-4x weekly, and still once a week with the multivitamin.

Thanx you very much, you are so knowledgeable with beardies. It is so awesome to have someone I can trust the answers with the questions I ask. Oh yeah about the squash it is working great my little beardie "frank", he loves it, I couldn't beleive how he gobbles it down. Plus I bought a big tupperware container and it stays freash for a long time like you said. If it wasn't for people like you I would be lost. =)
