It depends on what frog they are. Also most frogs will breed when they want to no metter what you do. I have several pairs. Some groups I can't get to stop breeding, while other won't breed no matter what I do. It sounds like you are on the right track. I find that most of my pairs lay on the weekends when I am not home and it is quieter. Also depending on what breed you have you may not here any calling. I have never heard my azureus call, while my leucs call all day long everyday. I think the best advice is to cycle them like you have, keep spraying and feeding them, but otherwise disturb them as little as possible.

well i have leucs... you think i should keep them in my room all alone? they are are in a place where ppl are walking all the time..
Hi Sam,
Ever watch a movie where the cast is walking though the jungle ? You hear ALL kinds of racket. When the racket stops is when there is something wrong. Silence bad.
I have some of my best producers/best acclimated frogs where they hear tons of noise and see me walking by all day. Noise is a good thing, IMO. Not booming erratic noise, but constant TV or radio is good.

Luecs can be tricky at times, do you know how old they are? Luecs normally will not breed until they are at least a year old or more. It all depends, but just because they might be a pair and are in a tank does not mean they will breed.

Dart Links - still a work in progress
i purchased them as proven breeders... they are in my room and i have a radio going most of the time... i have a recording of the leucs. call on cd (not mine) lol... should i use that to help the male get in the mood?
also i think its my male that is the thinner of the 2.. one looks nice and plump and the other looks a lil thin to me.. i have been feeding them plenty and i know he is eating but not sure if its enough.
thanks for the help guys! sry if i seem helplessly dumb.
Sam
Sam,
Have you tried asking the "breeder" you purchesed them from how they were set up ?
Rich
i got them from Brett Berger from super frog and fly... seems like a good guy eager to help i just sent him a few Q's... do you think there could be something wrong with the 1 frog that is a lil on the thin side?
Forgive the late post. Male leucs are normally somewhat thinner than the females. As far as the noise factor, dart frogs (and others) filter out "white" noise, and are oriented to hearing mating calls and perhaps some warning signals, filtering out extraneous sounds. It's not that they can't physically hear them, but they are filtered out as unimportant, unrecognizable. Perhaps the calls your are playing may be working the wrong way by intimidating the male rather than stimulating him. It may be actually distracting him, or competing with his own calls to the female. This is just a thought, not meant to be expertise in the matter.

Whoops, I misread. You aren't playing the leuc calls yet, just asked if you should, so I rambled off on that vein. Try it for a short time and see what happens.
