really sick horned toad help

bjeans Sep 09, 2005 03:57 PM

My male horned toad has been really lathargic and weak since 09/05 and not eating since he brought up some mealworm pieces late afternoon on 09/08.I had to clean poop from off his backside cause he didn't move and it dried. I noticed that he opens his mouth and sticks out his tongue at intervals. His breathing and breathing patterns seem to have changed. I am really worried. This is our first time taking care of them and I want to do what is best.

HL diet should consist mainly of ants, with very few meal worms. Some crickets are ok too, with the quantity dependant on species. It sounds like he is near death.

Perhaps see some of my other posts, or check out the herp health forum, but a lot can be done to help these guys if you and your vet are gung-ho about it.
