Enclosure pics for: Willhayward. ANYONE feel free to post cage pics!

chamcham505 Sep 09, 2005 05:34 PM

Will-

I know you posted a message about panther enclosure pics, although I wanted to post some of my pics on your message, I lost my Camera memory card. I just purchased a new chip today, and although you most likely have you enlosure set up...I thought I'd just post them anyway Cobalt has two enclosures...and indoor cage with dimentions of: 2by 2by 4 ft. and an outdoor reptarium that is slightly larger.

If ANYONE else on the chameleon forum has pics of their enclosure, I'm sure Will and I would LOVE to see them, so...POST AWAY! Thanks so much,

Michele

Here is a photo of a 2x2x4 cage, we used to house Sunray in when we first got him!

Old photo of a home made cage, now in the greenhouse.

Old photo of a rack we use for offspring, now in the greenhouse.

Just seeing those pics makes me want to re-do my chameleons cage! Lol All I can say is gorgeous! I love how you carefully spaced out the plants, and added all those colors!

Here are a few more of Cobalt's enlosure:

This message is reguarding a picture that cham paradise posted of their cage setup. I would like to know what the colourful plant is in the bottom of the first picture. I have one and was not sure if it is good or bad for chameleons.
I am in the middle of setting up my cage and would like to use it if I could.

thanx

Hi-

That is a Croton. We have used them in some of our panther cages for years now. Hope this helps!

Here's an indoor setup I use for some of my larger chameleons.
I call it a "compact free-range",.. doesn't take up alot of
space, but lets the chameleons feel like they're not trapped in
a cage. It has misting heads at the top, and some plexiglass
leaning against the wall to channel water down into the bins.
Works reall well, most people that come over think I'm into plants instead of "weird" lizards

Great Idea Garrett! What kind are in there?

kurpak Sep 11, 2005 02:49 PM

I'm using a few of these around the house for my parsonii
until I can get a greenhouse built. (easier said than done!)
Here's a picture of one of the females.

Garrett,

She looks really good man. Here are a couple pics of one of my parsonii enclosures-I'll post some pics of them in the thread above for cham pics.

Thanks Chris,
I like your cage setups, how are you handling
the water drainage on the bottom, and supporting
the plants at the same time? I had a similar cage setup,
but couldn't get the plants suspended above the
trays without alot of work. They were a pain in the butt
to clean too, so I went with the shelving idea.
Your parsonii are looking really good! The male
turned out awesome, he looks great.

I like that idea, but im afraid the chameleon will hop off and get hurt or will just climb down. how do you stop that?

Kurpak Sep 16, 2005 03:28 AM

I have them setup in a safe room, so if they do
climb down and roam around (happens once in a while)
they can't get into anything dangerous. Most of the time
they're pretty content to just sit in on their branches doing nothing. Once they do some initial exploring they usually
settle down into a chosen territory and stay there for the most part. I can guess now where they will be at any given time
of day, they have a very set routine that they stick to like
clockwork. Drink some water, climb down to check out the floor,
stare out the window, eat a roach, back to the favorite spot, rinse, repeat.
I can't say how well this setup would work for other species,
(especially small fragile guys)
but from what I've seen with other chameleons, if they like where they're at, they usually stay put.

Thanks for the Shout out Michelle!

Here are my own.

As you can see in the first photo, it is a 260 gallon reptairum laying horizontal. In the center is a slidding door for what I like to call "Casual Date Breeding" where the cameleons will be able to see each other while being in their own enclosure and meet at their own pace when I want them to breed. Should reduce a lot of stress. No chameleons in there yet. NOt until Tommorow anyways... :D

chamcham505 Sep 10, 2005 06:32 PM

Those are very well put together enclosures, Will. What type of chameleons are you getting?? and congradulations!!!

Thanks Michele. I would love some Nosey Misitos but I will probably end up with a Breeding pai or Nosey Bes, bred by the ever famous "Connie" who bred all the reptiles for the Telus Cell Phone Ads.

chamcham505 Sep 11, 2005 07:46 PM

Nosy be's are absolutly goergeous, they are one of my favorite panthers. Again, beautiful set up, and Im glad that I could help.

Oh well, No Nosey Bes Came home with me today after the Expo.

But.... From Arboreal Exotics (Canadas Best Breeder) I received a breeding pair of Maroantsetra Panthers. If I breed them fast, I will be the Second person in Canada! Maybe I am getting ahead of myself, because they are young, but I am excited!

Photos Soon.
