Its a good idea to quarentine new snakes for about 3 days. but him in has cage and dont mess w/ him. let him acclimate to his new surroundings before you trying holding/feeding him.

i would quarentine the new comer longer then 3 days. it's more like a month at least. you want to watch for any parasites...esp mites, check his bowel movements and over all health before putting him near your other snakes.

when i got my jungle carpet python a couple years ago i didn't know about quarentining snakes (or anything else for that matter). a few days after i had him i noticed he had mites. i freeked becasue i had him near my other snakes. so i moved him to a different room altogether for like a month or two.
fortunately my other snakes didn't get any mites and i got rid of the mites my jcp had.

another thing you might want to do is keep the new comers cage very simple. i just use some green carpet stuff with paper towels on top for substrate and a couple hide boxes, water bowl. that way you can see the bowel movements and see if they are normal, etc.

as far as handling a new comer its recommended to wait a couple days so they can settle into their new enviroment. just handle them LAST.

Hey goregrind, is a blizzard different than a snow? Where did you get'm and how much may I ask? ( I hope they ship to Canada )

As for the quarantine, definately... a month should work. Newsprint as a substrate.
