Sulcata appraisal

I am going to sell my tortoises, but before I place an ad in the classified I was looking for an approximate value. I have three, one female, 35 lbs, eight years old and has laid eggs last two years, none fertile or didn't hatch, two males, one eight years old, 70 lbs, and the other about 100 lbs, age unknown. These are not for sale at this time.

how much are the tortoise worth? well the first thing that came to my mind is the old saying "they are only worth what someone will pay you for them" however that doesn't help you any but keep that in the back of your mind when selling them. the males will not go for very much and when i say not very much i mean probably between 300-500. now the female will be in a little bit more demand but not much because she is not a proven breeder so i would expect to get around 600 out of her maybe a little more or a little less. but my best suggestion to you would be to try and get them to breed and get some fertile eggs because a proven breeder female goes for alot more at the high end i would say 1000 to 1100 and i have seen breeder pairs listed on kingsnake for as much as 2500. but another suggestion would be to see what similar tortoise are selling for and price them around that price because prices do sometimes change depending on supply and demand.

thanks jason
