Anole Color

I bought a green anole and a Bahama anole at the beginning of August. The Bahama anole died the next day, but the green one did great. He was always light brown with green sides and spots during the day for the first week. Now he is brown all the time! I can't figure out why. He goes from very dark brown to light brown, but he only turns green when he's sound asleep. He seems to be happy--he runs around all day, drinks, eats meal worms and moths (I tried crickets but he just ignored them!) and he only sleeps at night. I don't understand why he never turns green in the day!

He has one light in his cage that is centered on the left side. It was a bulb I bought at the petstore, the one they directed me to get. I didn't pay attention to what exactly it was! Mistake on my part. Oops. His temperature is always between 80 and 90 during the day. I've noticed that the more I turn up the light the darker he gets. He has several live plants, branches, and a reptile hammock. He never basks under the light, he usually lays in between plant leaves in the darker area.

The humidity is between 50 and 70, I mist the cage several times a day. He has ReptiBark for the substrate.

Is there anything I'm doing wrong to make him brown all the time? Should I worry about it? He's a fun pet...I've become kind of attached to him.

try adjusting the heat, making the tank bigger, covering the sides with construction paper and adding more plants and branches. its a trial and error thing more than anything. you didnt say the size of your tank but i have found its hard not to stress them when they are only in 10 gallon tanks. these lizards may be small but they naturally cover large territories.
just my two cents

you didn't mention a UV light. they need UV light. i used to have 2 bahaman anoles. my friend bought a pair and they are breeding like crazy so mine were CB.
the ones in pet stores are almost always wild caught. i would get a UV light for him along with an incadecent light for heat. keep the heat on one side of the tank so he can get away from it to cool off. the UV light won't provide heat, just UV. Reptisun 5.0 is what i used. also a timer works great so he can have a natural day/night cycle.
that is weird he won't eat crickets. that is all i fed mine. dusted, gut loaded crickets.
i hope he is doing ok.
